I get a lot of questions about my light-up dice—how they work, whether they need charging, and what makes them different. Here’s a quick walkthrough so you know exactly what to expect.
How Do They Work? Each die has a tiny LED inside. When you roll it on a powered tray, a hidden coil activates the light wirelessly. No batteries, no buttons—just a bit of magic. (Okay, fine. It’s technology. But it feels like magic!)
Do the Dice Need to Be Charged? Nope. The dice don’t have batteries—they’re powered entirely by the coil hidden in the tray. Just use the included USB cable to plug the tray into a wall outlet, power bank, or battery, and you’re good to go.
What If I Forget My Tray? Then you’re just rolling pretty dice without the glow. I design my light-up dice to look great lit and unlit, so they’re always fun to play with.
Will They Light Up Every Time? Not always. The coils in the tray and the die need to line up just right. I usually put multiple LEDs in each die to increase the odds—and most rolls do get a glow. And when I use different colored LEDs, you never quite know what color you’ll get. Here's the same d20 with different LEDs firing. More colors = more magic!
Why Light? I love combining the beauty of handmade dice with a touch of magic. While some light-up dice are mass-made, these are not. They’re crafted with care, and the light is part of the design, not just a gimmick. But be warned: once you’ve rolled with dice that glow, it’s hard not to want that spark every time.
