Description
Because simply rolling a death save isn’t enough—you need flair. With pink hearts, white bones, and a hint of sparkle, this die ensures that even your last moments may be filled with spectacle.
About this Die
-
When a character in D&D 5e is gravely injured, they don’t (usually) die immediately. Instead, the player rolls death saving throws, and must accumulate three successes before three failures to survive. Usually death saves are rolled on a d20, but it’s so much more fun (and more impactful!) to use this custom-designed death saving throw die!
Using the rules of D&D 5e, this die has the following faces:- A skull replaces the 1 and represents a critical failure (or two failed death saves)
- The crossed bones replace numbers 2-9 and represent one failed death save
- The hearts replace numbers 10-19 and represent one success
- The beating heart replaces the 20 and represents a critical success, returning the character to life with 1hp.
- This is an over-sized d20, and measures approximately 33mm (approximately 1.25in) tall when resting on the table.
- This die is handmade, which means it is molded, cast, polished, and inked by hand, one face at a time. While some mold marks or imperfections may be present, it is well-balanced and should roll true for casual play.
Notable Quirks
Every now and then, something unexpected makes it into a die. That happened here, with a small chunk of purple resin behind the 'critical failure' face. I admit that it's kind of color-coordinated, so I don't mind it much, but I've discounted accordingly.
